Albrook "Marcos A. Gelabert" International Airport, airport in Panama
Albrook Marcos A. Gelabert Airport is an aerodrome in Ancón serving domestic flights and connections to neighboring countries. The facility has an asphalt runway running north-south and a single terminal that handles multiple regional airlines.
The facility originated as a US military base established in 1932 and handed over to Panama in 1997 following the Torrijos-Carter treaties. The airport operations moved from Paitilla to Albrook in 1999 and took the name of the late aviation pioneer Gelabert.
The airport is named after Marcos Antonio Gelabert, a Panamanian aviation pioneer who established the earlier Paitilla airport. It serves as a functional connection point for travelers moving through the region on business or personal journeys.
The aerodrome sits near Panama City center, allowing quick connections to the city and surrounding regions. The facility handles small to medium-sized aircraft and operates on a functional basis without extensive tourist amenities.
The facility now uses modern fuel management systems operated by CLH Panama since 2019 to support airline operations. These systems improve efficiency and contribute to the safety of daily flight operations.
