Unellez Botanical Garden

Unellez Botanical Garden is a 14-hectare space within Universidad Nacional Experimental de los Llanos Occidental Ezequiel Zamora that contains an arboretum, ornamental plant areas, useful plant sections, and a 4-hectare lagoon with aquatic species. The garden's layout allows visitors to explore different plant types and how they grow.

The garden was founded in 1979 and later became a member of Botanic Gardens Conservation International, gaining recognition for botanical research. This membership helped establish its role as an important center for plant research and conservation work in the region.

The garden serves as a learning space where students and researchers study plant life from Venezuela's llanos region.

The garden is open Monday through Friday with limited hours, and group tours can be arranged in advance. It is best to visit in the morning and check local conditions before your visit.

The garden maintains a seed collection preserving more than 80 samples from over 70 plant species that support regional conservation efforts. This collection aids important research and protection programs for plants of the llanos region.
