Toluca Cathedral, Catholic cathedral in central Toluca, Mexico
The neoclassical structure rises with eight pairs of Corinthian columns, symmetrical towers, and a prominent dome topped by a six-meter statue of Saint Joseph.
Built on the site of a 16th-century Franciscan monastery, the cathedral's construction extended from 1867 to 1978 under different architects, including Vicente Mendiola Quezada.
The cathedral exhibits religious sculptures by Juan Ramírez Fajardo and houses ten side chapels containing baroque and neoclassical altarpieces with sacred images.
Located at Independence Avenue 303 in downtown Toluca, the cathedral maintains regular hours for religious services and welcomes visitors throughout the week.
Within its walls stands the preserved facade of another church, the San Elzeario, which now serves as the Sagrario Parish.
