Teocaltiche

Teocaltiche is a municipality in the northeastern highlands of Jalisco, where farmers grow corn, beans, and oats while raising livestock across rolling terrain. Agricultural fields shape the landscape and form the economic foundation for most residents.

Spanish conquistadors Cristóbal de Oñate and Manuel de Ibarra established control of the territory in 1530, shaping the region's colonial development. The Hospital de los Indios was built in 1546 to serve the indigenous population.
