Palace of Fine arts, Cultural center and opera house in Mexico City, Mexico

The Palace of Fine Arts combines Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Beaux-Arts architectural styles in a marble building with a copper-covered central dome.

Construction started in 1904 under architect Adamo Boari for Mexico's Independence centennial, but the Mexican Revolution delayed completion until 1934.

The main hall displays murals by Mexican artists Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco created between 1928 and 1963.

The main auditorium accommodates 1,590 visitors and hosts opera performances, ballet shows, orchestra concerts, and theatrical productions throughout the year.

The theater contains the only fire curtain in an opera house worldwide, depicting the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl Mexican volcanoes.
