Tepeaca Municipality, Administrative division in Puebla, Mexico.
Tepeaca is an administrative division in southeastern Puebla, Mexico, that encompasses multiple settlements across its territory. The municipality is home to tens of thousands of residents who work primarily in agriculture, crafts, and small businesses.
The settlement was originally founded by Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés as a fortified outpost named Segura de la Frontera. It was later renamed Tepeaca, using words from the indigenous Nahuatl language that refer to the landscape of the region.
The parish church contains a religious image of the Santo Niño Doctor that holds special meaning for the local community who gather there to pray. This figure represents a spiritual connection that has developed over time between the place and its residents.
Basic services like electricity and water are widely available throughout the area, though not every household has access to all of them. The dry season offers the best conditions for visiting, when roads are more accessible and weather is most favorable.
The place is notable as the birthplace of General Miguel Negrete Novoa, a military figure who also worked in extracting natural stone such as onyx and marble from the region. This blend of military leadership and involvement in local industry shaped the area's development.
