Kelly Field, Military air base in San Antonio, United States.
Kelly Field extends across 700 acres of flat terrain near the Missouri-Pacific rail line, functioning as a joint military and civilian aviation facility.
The airfield, established in 1917, trained over 250,000 military personnel during World War I and served as one of fourteen primary flight training schools.
During World War II, female workers known as Kelly Katies contributed to the base operations, marking a shift in military workplace demographics.
The facility maintains two active runways that support operations for the Air Force Reserve Command's 433rd Airlift Wing and Texas Air National Guard's 149th Fighter Wing.
The Kelly Field Historic District contains 39 buildings from 1940-1943, featuring Art Moderne, Mediterranean, and Spanish Colonial Revival architectural styles.
