Moody Mansion, Historic mansion in Galveston, US.

Moody Mansion is a four-story residence in Galveston built in Romanesque Revival style with detailed woodwork and stained glass windows throughout. The building contains many rooms serving different purposes, from formal living areas to private spaces, and displays craftsmanship reflecting the wealth of its original residents.

The residence was built in 1895 and later came under the ownership of W.L. Moody Jr., a prominent businessman who made it the center of his operations. Following the 1900 Galveston hurricane, the property served as headquarters for his financial ventures in cotton, banking, and insurance.

The home displays how a wealthy business family lived through original furnishings and personal objects on view throughout the rooms. Walking through each space gives a sense of the daily life of Texas merchants during the late 1800s.

The residence is open daily for visitors and offers both self-guided tours and guided visits through various areas. Set aside time to explore the different floors and rooms at your own pace, and note that parking is available nearby.

The building was designed by architects from Britain and America, with a London-based architect creating the exterior form while a New York firm shaped the interior decoration. This international collaboration reflects the global reach and financial success of the family.
