City National Bank, Neoclassical bank building in Galveston, Texas.

The City National Bank building at 2219 Market Street features Corinthian columns, a pedimented portico, and a barrel-vaulted interior ceiling displaying architectural grandeur.

William Lewis Moody Jr established City National Bank in 1907, constructing this building between 1919 and 1920 at a cost of 200,000 dollars.

The structure transformed from a financial institution into the Galveston County Historical Museum in 1978, preserving local heritage until Hurricane Ike struck in 2008.

The building stands empty since 2008 when water damage from Hurricane Ike forced the relocation of museum collections to the Galveston County Courthouse.

Mary Moody Northen inherited the bank from her father and later donated the historic structure to Galveston County in 1972, marking its transition from private to public ownership.
