Lake Bridgeport, Reservoir in northern Texas, US

Lake Bridgeport is a reservoir on the West Fork Trinity River in northern Texas, straddling Jack and Wise counties. It has a long, rocky shoreline with many coves, and US Highway 380 provides easy access to the area.

Lake Bridgeport began as the Bridgeport Reservoir, part of a Trinity River canalization plan to prevent flooding along the West Fork of the Trinity River. Construction of the dam started in 1929 and was completed in 1931, at an estimated cost of $2 million. The reservoir is owned by the Tarrant Regional Water District, and its water is used for flood control, residential and commercial sales, irrigation and recreation.

Anglers come to Lake Bridgeport for largemouth bass, crappie, hybrid bass and sand bass, and boat ramps and marinas are placed at points around the shore. Wise County Park, at the northern end of the lake, provides camping and day-use facilities.
