The white marble building houses a research center and museum dedicated to Sam Rayburn, with exhibits spanning his 48-year congressional career.
The facility opened in 1957 with President Harry Truman attending the dedication ceremony of this institution that preserves the legacy of the longest-serving House Speaker.
The museum includes an exact reproduction of Rayburn's Washington office, complete with original furniture from the Speaker's Office between 1907 and 1957.
The library opens Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM at 800 West Sam Rayburn Drive.
The building contains the white marble rostrum used in the House of Representatives from 1857 until 1950, with a bronze statue of Rayburn behind it.
