Southern Food and Beverage Museum, Culinary museum and event venue in Central City, New Orleans, United States
The Southern Food and Beverage Museum is a collection of cooking equipment, historical objects, and food preparation methods from all Southern states in the United States. The rooms document the evolution of Southern cuisine through preserved equipment and ingredient displays.
The museum opened in 2008 at Riverwalk Marketplace and moved to its current building in 2014. The relocation allowed for a larger exhibition space and better presentation of Southern cooking traditions.
The museum celebrates Southern food culture by showing how regional ingredients and cooking techniques shape daily life. Visitors can see which foods and cooking methods have been passed down through generations in families.
The building is located on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard and is open several days each week. Visitors should allow enough time to explore the different exhibition areas.
Inside the museum is Bruning's Bar, a restored room from a historical restaurant that opens for special events. This space preserves the character of a classic Southern watering hole.
