Caesars Superdome, Multi-purpose stadium in central business district, New Orleans, US.
The Caesars Superdome is a multi-purpose stadium in the central business district of New Orleans, recognizable by its circular form with a steel and concrete domed roof structure. The building holds roughly 75,000 visitors across multiple tiers arranged around a central playing surface.
The stadium opened in 1975, replacing older sports venues in the city. It served as an emergency shelter during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 for thousands of residents who lost their homes in the surrounding area.
The facility serves as home to the New Orleans Saints and draws large crowds on game days wearing team colors. On weekends, concerts and other events transform the space into a gathering place for people across the Gulf Coast.
Arriving early on event days is advisable, as the building sits in a dense urban neighborhood with crowds converging at the same time. The stadium features multiple entrances and elevators to help reach upper seating levels more easily.
The venue has hosted seven Super Bowls and will welcome the eighth in February 2025. This makes it one of the few places in the United States to have received the championship game that many times.
