Entergy Tower, Glass and steel skyscraper in Central Business District, New Orleans, US
Entergy Tower is a 28-story office building in downtown New Orleans, located on Loyola Avenue in the Central Business District. The building has a glass exterior with an angled shape and stepped rows of windows that give it a profile different from the other towers nearby.
The building was completed in 1983, during a period when downtown New Orleans was seeing a wave of new office construction. For a time, it housed the Japanese Consulate-General, which later moved to Nashville in 2006.
The tower stands in the heart of the Central Business District, where office workers, lawyers, and local businesses fill the streets on weekdays. Its stepped glass facade is one of the more recognizable shapes along Loyola Avenue when you look up from street level.
The building is on Loyola Avenue in central New Orleans, within easy walking distance of public transit stops and the main downtown streets. It is a working office building, so access inside is generally limited to tenants and their guests.
Despite being built in the early 1980s, the tower later received an ENERGY STAR certification for its energy-efficient operations, which is rare for a building of that age. This kind of rating is only given to buildings that rank among the top performers in their category.
