Lake Village Confederate Monument, Civil War monument in Lake Village, Arkansas.
The Lake Village Confederate Monument is a marble statue depicting a soldier in motion, rifle in hand and bedroll slung across his shoulder, positioned on Lakeshore Drive. The figure stands upon a marble base located between Main and Jackson Streets.
The monument was erected in 1910 by chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and later received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1996. It commemorates those who served in the Civil War from the local region.
The monument displays inscriptions on multiple faces, including poetry and dedications to Confederate soldiers from Chicot County who served during 1861-1865.
The monument sits in a public location on Lakeshore Drive between Main and Jackson Streets, making it easily accessible on foot. Visitors can view the work at any time since it stands outdoors as a permanent installation.
The statue's original design included a cannon that operated as a fountain feature, though this element has since been removed. This water feature was once part of the monument's complete artistic composition.
