Florewood State Park is a state park located along the western edge of Greenwood, featuring a lake for fishing and natural areas for recreation. The grounds sit near U.S. Highway 82 and offer access to outdoor activities throughout the property.
The park began in 1973, when the Moor family deeded land to the state of Mississippi for use as a "living historical plantation." In 2005 the Mississippi Legislature considered a bill authorizing disposal of the park, and an auction company offered the entire site at auction on July 23, 2005. The state leased the park to Leflore County in 2007.
In 2014 Leflore County leased the shuttered park to Hollywood producers to shoot "By Way of Helena", released as "The Duel" with Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth. The park began in 1973 as a "living historical plantation" created from land deeded by the Moor family. It is now operated by the Leflore County Board of Supervisors.
Fishing activities operate on limited days, so visitors should plan ahead and check current conditions before arriving. The grounds are easily accessible and well-suited for day trips from town.
In 2014 Leflore County leased the shuttered park to Hollywood producers for the filming of "By Way of Helena", released as "The Duel", starring Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth. The lake was stocked with bluegill in 2018 and reopened for fishing in 2021.
