Florewood State Park extends along the western edge of Greenwood, offering fishing opportunities and natural recreational areas near U.S. Highway 82.
The park originated in 1973 when the Moor family transferred their property to Mississippi state for establishing a living historical plantation.
The park gained attention in 2014 when the Leflore County Board of Supervisors leased it to film producers for shooting the movie 'The Duel'.
Visitors can access fishing activities exclusively on Saturdays at the Florewood River Plantation Lake, which was stocked with blue gill fish in 2018.
The park underwent several administrative changes, including a 2005 auction attempt and subsequent transfer to Leflore County management in 2007.
