The Arkansas Railroad Museum houses an extensive collection of locomotives, passenger cars, and railroad equipment within a 70,000-square-foot former Cotton Belt repair facility.
The museum opened in 1983 when local volunteers began restoring Steam Locomotive 819, the last steam engine constructed in the Cotton Belt Shops during 1943.
The Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society maintains exhibits documenting the influence of railroads on regional development through photographs, tools, and transportation artifacts.
Visitors can explore the museum from Thursday through Saturday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, with free admission and opportunities for guided tours.
The museum maintains an operational transfer table system used to move rail exhibits between 17 different tracks within the facility.
