Navarre Beach is a census-designated place on Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island between Santa Rosa Sound and the Gulf of Mexico, crossed by Florida State Road 399. The community recorded 1,123 residents at the 2020 census. Its beach front on the Gulf of Mexico runs about 4 miles (6.4 km), and the white water tower painted "NAVARRE BEACH" stands beside the road.

Development began in the 1960s when the first bridge connected the barrier island to the mainland, opening the area to settlement and tourism. This connection transformed the previously isolated land into an accessible destination.

The name Navarre comes from the Wyman family, who settled along Santa Rosa Sound by 1827 and are credited as town founders. The beach lies on Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island between Santa Rosa Sound and the Gulf of Mexico, and is crossed by Florida State Road 399. In 2010 most of its 1,806 housing units were second homes.

Visit during warmer months for the best conditions, though weather and water temperature vary throughout the year. Wear appropriate sun protection and sturdy footwear, as the sandy paths can shift and sun exposure is intense near the water.
