Fred J. Cramton donated the land and raised $33,000 to construct this stadium, which opened in 1922 as a baseball venue for Major League spring training.
The facility transformed Southern sports by hosting the first game under lights in 1927, drawing 7,200 spectators for a high school football match.
The stadium underwent extensive renovations in 2011, receiving a new press box, updated entrances, and modern facilities while maintaining its original character.
The Philadelphia Athletics conducted their spring training at this location during 1923 and 1924, marking a significant period in professional baseball history.
