The International Motorsports Hall of Fame displays racing vehicles, medals, helmets, trophies, and banners across multiple exhibition buildings.
NASCAR founder Bill France Sr established the museum in 1970 and selected Alabama over Florida due to tax considerations at Daytona Beach.
The museum recognizes 145 racing pioneers including Louise Smith, Shirley Muldowney, and Janet Guthrie as the first women inducted between 1999 and 2006.
The facility opens daily from 9 AM to 4 PM with admission prices of $12 for adults and $5 for children between 6 and 12 years old.
The nomination process requires a 15-year waiting period before candidates become eligible for induction into the hall of fame.
