Réserve provinciale Corazón de la Isla, Protected area in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

Reserva Corazón de la Isla is a large protected area located between Tolhuin town and Tierra del Fuego National Park. The area features forests, peatlands, and many connected waterways that run throughout the landscape.

The reserve came into being in 1995 through a provincial decree that established its initial protected status. A significant expansion followed in 2000 that redefined the area as both a nature preserve and recreational zone.

The area matters to locals and visitors as a place where nature itself takes center stage. People come here to understand how wilderness functions and which animals and plants are native to this part of South America.

You reach the area via National Route 3 and then Provincial Route 18. Your visit experience depends on the season, since conditions change considerably and wildlife viewing becomes easier at certain times of year.

The northernmost distribution of coihue forests in the province reaches right into this reserve. The area also draws guanacos, which concentrate here especially during the summer months.
