Saladillo, Administrative center in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina.
Saladillo is the administrative center of Saladillo Partido in northern Buenos Aires Province, located at about 40 meters above sea level. The city has a railway station connecting it to larger urban areas and is served by the Hospital Doctor Alejandro Posadas for medical care.
The settlement was founded on July 31, 1863, by decree of Governor Mariano Acosta following disagreements about the location among founding members. This early decision established the foundation for its development as the administrative center of the region.
The Bartolomé Mitre Municipal Library, established in 1872, serves as a gathering place where locals can explore regional literature and historical documents. The institution reflects how the community has valued education and the preservation of its past since the early days of settlement.
The railway station provides connections to major centers and makes traveling convenient for visitors and residents. Medical services are available at the local hospital in case travelers need health care support during their visit.
The name comes from the brackish waters of local streams that shaped the area from the beginning. This natural feature was decisive in why settlers chose this location and gave it its name.
