Coronda prison, Correctional facility in Coronda, Argentina.

Coronda Prison is a correctional facility located in the town of Coronda situated between Rosario and Santa Fe, featuring multiple cell blocks organized in separate sections. The compound spreads across extensive grounds designed to house inmates in individual cells with different areas kept apart for administrative reasons.

The facility opened in 1933 after a long planning process that started in 1909 with a project to build a prison between two major cities. Its location was chosen strategically to serve the regional area between Rosario and Santa Fe.

The prison shapes daily life in Coronda as the town's largest employer and influences how local infrastructure and services are organized. Visitors notice this central role throughout the community, from the roads leading to it to the shops and services oriented around its operations.

Access to the facility is restricted and visits require prior authorization from authorities before arrival. It is wise to inquire about current visiting rules beforehand, as regulations can change depending on operational conditions.

The facility maintains strict separation between inmates from different cities due to a history of tensions and serious conflicts that could reignite if housed together. This unusual operational practice shapes how the prison is managed on a daily basis.
