Gili Air

The island features white sand beaches and coral reefs along its perimeter, with traditional wooden structures and palm trees dotting the coastline.

Initial settlement of Gili Air began in the 1970s when the Indonesian government transformed the uncultivated land into coconut plantations for agricultural development.

Local inhabitants maintain Indonesian traditions through cooking classes that teach visitors the preparation methods of regional dishes using fresh local ingredients.

Visitors can access the island via regular boat services from Bangsal Harbor in Lombok or through fast boat connections from various ports in Bali.

The island maintains a complete prohibition on motorized vehicles, with transportation limited to bicycles and traditional horse-drawn carriages called cidomos.
