Hidden Hills, Gated community in Los Angeles County, United States
Hidden Hills is a gated community in the western part of Los Angeles County, known for white three-rail wooden fences and large properties. The settlement extends across the hills of the Santa Monica Mountains without streetlights or sidewalks, giving it a rural appearance.
The settlement was created from the early 1960s according to plans by a developer who had previously realized other residential areas in the region. The design followed the concept of a private residential neighborhood with controlled access and community facilities for residents.
Residents follow a lifestyle where horses and riding paths play a role in daily life, visible in the arenas and stables near the roads. The fences and lots reflect a deliberately rural style that preserves the feel of a country settlement close to the city.
Access is through guarded entrances open only to residents and registered visitors, so touring without an invitation is not possible. The surrounding area is suitable for exploring the nearby mountains and trails outside the gated zone.
In addition to horses, other animals such as llamas and ostriches live on the properties, giving the settlement an unusual character. The paths are unpaved and without artificial lighting to preserve the natural atmosphere of the hillside landscape.
