Indiana Jones Adventure, Amusement ride in Adventureland, Disneyland, United States
Indiana Jones Adventure is a motion-based ride set inside a full-scale replica of an ancient temple in Adventureland at Disneyland in California. The vehicles carry up to twelve passengers at a time through dark corridors filled with fire bursts, oversized snakes, and carved skull walls.
The ride opened in 1995 at Disneyland and was among the first to use onboard computers to control each vehicle's movements independently. A related version opened at Tokyo DisneySea in 2001 with a different story but the same engineering approach.
The ride draws from the visual language of 1980s adventure cinema, placing visitors inside a story that feels like an old Hollywood film. Carved walls, torches, and artifact displays give the space the look of a real excavation site rather than a theme park.
Riders must be at least 46 inches (117 cm) tall to board the vehicle. The experience involves sudden jerks, sharp turns, and sections of near-total darkness, so it may not suit those sensitive to motion or confined spaces.
An onboard computer randomly assigns one of three different routes through the temple to each vehicle before it departs. This means repeat riders can go through the same attraction and still encounter different scenes and effects on each visit.
