Soarin'

Soarin' is a flight simulator at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California, where visitors sit in specialized seats beneath a domed projection screen. The seats lift and tilt gently to match the motion of the images, creating the feeling of gliding through different locations shown on the curved surface above.

The attraction opened in February 2001 during the inaugural season of Disney California Adventure. The original film focused exclusively on California locations and was later replaced with footage showing destinations around the world.

The name "Soarin'" refers to the smooth glide of a bird through open air. Visitors often describe the experience as calming, with fellow riders suspended side by side in rows, sharing the sensation of drifting quietly through wide open spaces.

Visitors should place small belongings in the pouches beneath their seats before the ride begins. Arriving around 40 minutes before the park closes usually allows enough time to experience the attraction without extended waits.

The system releases carefully matched scents during the ride to match what appears on screen. When the film passes over orange groves, a light citrus aroma fills the air, and forest scenes bring the smell of pine needles.
