Red Car Trolley

The Red Car Trolley features two battery-powered replica streetcars numbered 623 and 717 that transport guests along a scenic route through Disney California Adventure's themed areas including Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land.

This attraction opened on June 15, 2012, as part of Disney California Adventure's renovation and was inspired by the Pacific Electric Railway's red streetcars that operated throughout Southern California from the early to mid-20th century.

The trolley serves as a tribute to Los Angeles transit history and Walt Disney's arrival in California, featuring Art Deco styling and period advertisements that evoke the 1920s and 1930s Hollywood golden age atmosphere.

The trolley operates at approximately 4 miles per hour along a 1,744-foot route with four main stops, accommodating around twenty guests per trip on sideward-facing benches during approximately five-minute journeys.

Unlike traditional electric trolleys, these vehicles use modern induction charging systems and battery power while maintaining non-conductive overhead lines purely for visual authenticity, and will cease operations on February 8, 2025.
