The courthouse represents early 20th-century public architecture in Texas, designed by Harvey L. Page with elements that showcase the period's governmental building standards.
Located at 1100 North Mesquite Street, the building earned recognition on the National Register of Historic Places and as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1976.
Archaeological discoveries beneath the courthouse steps revealed pre-1900 newspapers, vintage liquor bottles, and an unexpected preserved diamondback rattlesnake specimen.
