Eunice, Cultural center in Louisiana, United States
Eunice is a town in Acadia and St. Landry parishes in Louisiana, covering about 4.7 square miles (12 square kilometers). Highways 13 and 190 run through the area, connecting it to neighboring communities.
Railroad developer C.C. Duson founded the settlement in 1894 by purchasing land from a local owner. He named the town after his wife, Eunice Pharr.
The Liberty Theater features weekly Cajun music radio broadcasts and live performances in a restored 1924 vaudeville venue. Residents gather regularly to celebrate their connection to Cajun traditions through these performances and shared musical moments.
The Jean Lafitte Prairie Acadian Cultural Center offers ranger-led programs, exhibits, and live music performances. Visitors can experience traditional Cajun cooking and cultural demonstrations directly at this location.
Saturday mornings bring locals to the Savoy Music Center for spontaneous Cajun jam sessions. A resident accordion craftsman produces local boudin sausage that people enjoy during these casual musical gatherings.
