WCIX TV Tower, Television tower in Miami, United States.
The WCIX TV Tower stands near Homestead, just southwest of Miami, serving as a broadcast transmission facility for the region. The structure supports multiple television and radio stations that deliver signals across a wide area of South Florida from its location.
The original facility was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and subsequently rebuilt from scratch by a Canadian construction company. The reconstruction restored broadcast services to the region after the devastating damage.
The transmission tower broadcasts signals for four FM radio stations: WRGP, WDNA, WMLV, and WRTO-FM across South Florida.
The site is located in a rural area southwest of Miami and is not open to the public. Visitors interested in the region can explore the surrounding Miami-Dade County area, which offers better accessibility for tourists.
When completed, this tower was the heaviest guy-supported broadcast structure ever built in the world. This distinction made it a notable engineering achievement in the broadcast industry.
