Curry Hammock State Park, State park at Little Crawl Key, US.
Curry Hammock State Park is a protected coastal area spanning more than 1000 acres of hardwood forests, mangrove swamps, and seagrass beds along the Florida Keys. The landscape features multiple habitats blending together across Little Crawl Key and surrounding waters.
The area was protected as a state park in 1991, becoming one of the largest undeveloped land parcels in the region between Key Largo and Big Pine Key. This designation has preserved the natural landscape from development and modification.
The park serves as a key stop along the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail, where paddlers connect with coastal mangrove environments. Many visitors come to experience the water-based rhythm of the Keys and explore the relationship between land and sea.
The park offers 28 campsites with water and electric hookups, typically available from November through May. Visitors should book ahead and plan their kayaking trips during these cooler months when conditions are most favorable.
The park records notably high numbers of peregrine falcons during fall migration, making it an important observation point for bird monitoring. These raptors use the area as a stopover on their long journey southward.
