South Seas Island Resort
South Seas Island Resort is a large vacation property on Captiva Island covering more than 300 acres with white sand beaches, palm trees, and various lodging options. The property divides into two main areas with restaurants, pools, a golf course, sports facilities, and a water park called Captiva Landing spread throughout.
The property started in 1946 as South Seas Plantation with just 15 rooms and a restaurant. Over decades it expanded into a large family resort while maintaining its cottage-style architecture with light colors and wood accents throughout the grounds.
The resort name reflects a South Pacific theme that shapes the overall feel of the property. Families gather at shared spaces like the beaches and pools, creating a relaxed community atmosphere where visitors from different backgrounds enjoy the island lifestyle together.
The resort is private and visitors need a parking pass to access main public areas like Doc Ford's restaurant. Trolley service and golf cart rentals help navigate the sprawling grounds easily, with designated stops beginning at the main entrance.
Guests can watch dolphins jumping near Redfish Pass just offshore while exploring the beaches. The property hosts a farmers market every Tuesday from November through April offering fresh produce and seafood, open to the public with a small parking fee.
