Fort Harrison Hotel, Mediterranean Revival hotel in Clearwater, Florida.
The Fort Harrison Hotel is an eleven-story building on South Fort Harrison Avenue in Clearwater with more than two hundred rooms and several restaurants. The facade shows typical Mediterranean elements like rounded arches, ceramic tiles, and light plaster surfaces that recall southern European coastal towns.
The building opened in 1926 and replaced an earlier hotel with the same name, which referred to a nearby military post from the time of the Seminole War. The Church of Scientology acquired the property in 1975 and carried out extensive renovation work that continued until 2007.
The Rolling Stones band member Keith Richards composed the song 'Satisfaction' during his stay at the Fort Harrison Hotel in 1965.
The building stands in central Clearwater, about two blocks from the water, and is within walking distance of the downtown area. The property includes a pool, a ballroom, and several dining options that serve events and guests staying on site.
Musician Keith Richards wrote the song Satisfaction during his stay here in 1965, one of the most recognized pieces in rock history. This composition came together on one of the upper floors and later became an anthem for an entire generation.
