Circle of Heroes is an underwater memorial featuring thirteen concrete statues arranged in a circular formation at a depth of 40 feet. The figures represent military service members and surround a central structure bearing military emblems.
The memorial was dedicated in August 2019 following two and a half years of preparation and construction. It was built in the Gulf of Mexico waters off the Pinellas County coast.
The central structure displays emblems representing all five military service branches. This arrangement honors the contributions of different military communities in a shared space.
Divers need boat transportation from designated launch points near Honeymoon Island State Park to reach this location. Visiting requires scuba certification and should only be attempted in suitable weather conditions.
Each statue weighs approximately 1,200 pounds and stands about 6 feet tall, creating durable underwater structures. The figures represent veterans from different conflicts including the Vietnam and Korean wars.
