Midpoint Memorial Bridge, Road bridge across Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers, United States
Midpoint Memorial Bridge is a four-lane road bridge connecting Fort Myers and Cape Coral across the Caloosahatchee River. The structure spans approximately 2 kilometers and rises roughly 55 feet above the water.
Construction began in 1995 following lengthy legal disputes and the bridge opened in 1997. It was built to create an essential link between the rapidly growing communities on either side of the river.
Two war memorials stand at opposite ends of the bridge, serving as places where locals and visitors pause to reflect on sacrifice. These installations have become quiet landmarks that connect the two communities through shared remembrance.
The bridge is tall enough to allow boat traffic underneath and provides wide views of the river while driving. Plan for extra time during rush hours when traffic from both communities crosses in heavy volume.
The bridge gets its name from sitting midway between two other major river crossings, creating a third route across the waterway. This middle position has made it a popular choice for drivers wanting to avoid congestion on the other bridges.
