Conner Preserve, Nature reserve in Land O' Lakes, Florida.
Conner Preserve is a nature reserve near Land O' Lakes, Florida, covering roughly 3000 acres of diverse natural terrain. The landscape includes sandy ridges, wetlands, cypress swamps, and pine forests spread across central Pasco County.
The land operated as a private cattle ranch with extensive pastures before being acquired by the Southwest Florida Water Management District in 2003. This acquisition marked its transition into a protected natural area.
This place serves as a vital link in a network of protected natural areas across the region, supporting diverse wildlife communities and their habitats. Visitors walking the trails experience how different ecosystems coexist within a single landscape.
The preserve offers around 24 kilometers of unpaved trails for hiking and mountain biking, along with roughly 10 kilometers of riding paths. Access is available from sunrise to sunset, allowing visitors to choose activities based on their interests and abilities.
Within the preserve, a model airplane club operates a 10-acre flying field with two grass runways for remote-controlled aircraft. This coexistence of wildlife protection and hobby aviation makes the site unusual among nature reserves.
