Lake Rogers Park, Nature preserve in Odessa, Florida, US
Lake Rogers Park is a nature preserve in Odessa spanning 272 acres of pine forests, oak groves, and two freshwater lakes. These lakes are connected by a trail system that winds through the varied landscape.
The land was leased to Hillsborough County by St. Petersburg in 1987 for recreation and natural resource protection. This agreement helped preserve the area for public use.
The park serves as a place where visitors naturally learn about Florida's native forests, wetlands, and wildlife while walking the trails. The different landscapes encountered along the way reveal how local plants and animals live in their natural settings.
The main red trail circles the lake for about 2.25 miles and can be accessed from several starting points throughout the park. Canoe and kayak launches are available along the waterfront, and picnic areas with grills offer basic amenities for visitors.
The park offers designated camping areas available only to non-profit youth groups, complete with water access, fire pits, and proper facilities. This arrangement makes it a favored destination for schools and community organizations.
