Courtney Campbell Causeway, Road bridge between Clearwater and Tampa, United States.
The Courtney Campbell Causeway extends 9.9 miles across Old Tampa Bay, connecting the cities through elevated spans and recreational paths along its route.
Opening in 1934 for a cost of 900,000 dollars, the causeway initially operated as Davis Causeway with a 25-cent toll until the federal government acquired it.
Two beaches flank the structure, with Ben T. Davis Municipal Beach on the Tampa side and a Florida Department of Transportation beach near Clearwater.
The causeway forms part of State Road 60, offering cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists direct access between Clearwater and Tampa without northern detours.
At its completion, this structure ranked as the longest over-water fill construction across an open water body in the United States.
