Miramar is a city in southern Broward County that sits between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, made up mostly of residential areas and shopping districts. Wide streets run through neighborhoods filled with single-family homes, apartment complexes, and strip malls that serve daily needs.
The city began in 1955 as a planned residential development with 56 concrete homes built by developer A.L. Mailman near Miami. Over the following decades, it grew from fewer than 200 residents into one of the larger communities in South Florida.
The Cultural Center and ArtsPark hosts performances, art shows, and workshops reflecting the diverse backgrounds of people who live here. Neighborhoods reveal influences from Caribbean and Latin American communities through local restaurants, shops, and public gatherings throughout the year.
