Amerant Bank Arena, Indoor sports arena in Sunrise, Florida
Amerant Bank Arena is a multipurpose hall in Sunrise, south of Fort Lauderdale, and serves as the largest stadium of its kind in Florida. The facility features several spectator levels and separate sections for suites and club seating, all arranged around the central event floor.
The hall was built between November 1996 and October 1998, and has been renamed several times since its opening. The current namesake Amerant Bank took over the naming rights only in 2023, after other companies had previously sponsored the venue.
The venue draws Latin American stars and their followers, who gather here for major concerts and awards ceremonies. This connection to the Hispanic community makes the arena a place where music and cultural celebrations from south of the mainstream US current have a firm foothold.
The location sits right next to the large Sawgrass Mills shopping center, making it easy to find. Parking spaces are available in large numbers, though visitors should allow extra time on event nights.
The building has carried six different official names since it opened, each tied to changing sponsors. These frequent renamings reflect the American practice of naming sports facilities after companies willing to pay for the privilege.
