Buehler Planetarium and Observatory

Buehler Planetarium and Observatory is an astronomy center and science museum located on Broward College's campus in Davie. It has a 40-foot domed theater with projection equipment and telescopes available during evening observation sessions.

The facility was founded in 1965 through funding from the Emil Buehler Trust as a basic observatory. Major upgrades in the 1980s added new projection systems and equipment that transformed it into a modern planetarium.

The place is known for introducing visitors to space through its dome shows that explore planets, stars, and the cosmos. People come here to see how astronomers study the sky and to understand what lies beyond Earth.

Shows happen on specific days during the week, and stargazing works best on clear nights when clouds are not blocking the view. The location has parking available on the college campus and it is easy to find, though checking ahead for current events is recommended.

On certain evenings, visitors can look through a collection of about 20 telescopes on the observatory patio and see planets and stars up close in ways the dome show cannot replicate. This hands-on observing experience lets people see deep-sky objects as they appear through real instruments.
