Bienes Museum of the Modern Book

The Bienes Museum spans 8,300 square feet with curved wooden ceilings, glass panels, granite surfaces, and ceramic tile decorations throughout the space.

The museum opened in December 1996 following a one million dollar donation from Diane and Michael Bienes to establish the rare book department.

The collection contains over 15,000 items including manuscripts, artifacts, and books from notable Florida authors Charles Willeford, Michael Shaara, and Connie May Fowler.

Researchers and visitors can access the collection through scheduled appointments and submit requests for document scanning services at the museum.

The museum holds the largest public collection of Vojtech Kubasta works in the United States, featuring 315 pieces including pop-up books and greeting cards.
