South Beach, Beachfront neighborhood in Miami Beach, United States.

South Beach is a coastal neighborhood in Miami Beach on the Atlantic, characterized by a mix of sandy shore, low-rise buildings, and a promenade. The area includes several parallel streets with restaurants, bars, and shops that stretch between the coastline and the western residential blocks.

In the early 20th century, the area was developed after a bridge connected it to the mainland. During the 1930s, many of today's buildings were constructed, later rescued from decay through renovation projects in the 1980s.

Ocean Drive displays sidewalk cafés and hotels whose architecture combines neon light installations and clean geometric lines, while residents and visitors stroll along the promenade. During early evening hours, terraces and open spaces transform into busy meeting points where people enjoy the mild climate and proximity to the sea.

A walk along the coastal streets provides access to public beach areas equipped with showers and changing rooms. Most facilities concentrate south of 23rd Street, where pedestrians can easily move between different blocks.

Many facades carry metal ornaments shaped like waves, flamingos, or stylized palm trees, often overlooked in daylight. Several buildings feature round windows that originally served as ventilation systems and now stand as an architectural feature.
