The Cornell Museum of Art occupies a 1913 school building with restored Dade County Pine floors and tall windows in downtown Delray Beach.
Local residents Harriet and George Cornell supported the transformation of the former Delray Elementary School into an art museum, which opened its doors in 1990.
The museum presents rotating exhibitions of contemporary artwork from Florida artists, spanning various mediums and techniques throughout multiple gallery spaces.
The museum welcomes visitors Wednesday through Sunday with free admission, offering guided tours, a museum store, and weekly live music performances.
A 2017 renovation created an open atrium extending to the second floor, bringing natural light into the exhibition spaces of this historic educational structure.
