James D. and Alice Butler House

The James D. and Alice Butler House is a Mediterranean Revival residence located in Deerfield Beach that features hollow tile walls and a Spanish terracotta roof. The structure at 380 East Hillsboro Boulevard displays characteristic interior plaster finishes typical of the style.

The house was built in 1923 by the Gulfstream Lumber Company and designated as a Florida Historic Site in 1974. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The house was furnished based on a design from a popular magazine of the time, showing how homeowners drew inspiration from print media to create their living spaces. This connection between editorial vision and actual construction reflects how people shaped their homes during that era.
