Pritchard House

Pritchard House is a two-story residential building in Queen Anne style featuring wooden fishscale shingles and decorative trim work across its exterior. A cone-shaped tower rises prominently from one corner, creating a distinctive profile when viewed from the street.

Captain James Pritchard, a former soldier and later bank president, commissioned construction of the residence in 1891 with contractor Pleasant J. Hall overseeing the work. The building rose during a period when Titusville was developing as a port town and wealthy citizens were building homes in contemporary architectural styles.

The house displays how prosperous families lived in Florida during the late 1800s, with period furnishings and household items on view. Visitors can see how rooms were arranged and what objects were part of daily life back then.

The house is open for guided tours arranged through the North Brevard Heritage Foundation, located at 424 South Washington Avenue. It is best to contact the foundation ahead of time to arrange your visit.

Archaeological digs around the property have uncovered artifacts that reveal how early Titusville residents lived and worked. These discoveries help historians piece together details about daily life in the growing community during that era.
