Donalsonville, County seat municipality in Seminole County, Georgia, United States
Donalsonville is a small city in Seminole County, Georgia, positioned on a slight elevation. The Seminole County Courthouse stands at its center and serves as the main administrative building for the area.
The city originated in 1897 when John Ernest Donalson established a lumber mill that drew settlers to the area. It became the county seat in 1920 and has served that function ever since.
The Donalsonville-Seminole County Historical Society Museum displays local artifacts that show how people lived and worked in the region. Walking through it gives you a sense of the community's everyday life across different times.
The city sits in a flat region with good road connections and is easy to explore by car. Visitors will find most shops and services clustered within walking distance of the downtown area.
The city's name honors John Ernest Donalson, the sawmill founder whose business shaped the community's early growth. Several of the oldest buildings in town still stand from that lumber industry era.
