Possum Poke

Possum Poke is an American Craftsman house in Poulan, Georgia, featuring two main buildings called Big Poke and Little Poke set on about 15 acres of land along Possum Lane off U.S. Route 82. The structures display the distinctive handcrafted details and woodwork typical of the Craftsman style, designed to serve as both a private residence and a venue for entertaining guests.

The property served as the winter residence of Michigan Governor Chase Osborn until his death in 1949. It gained National Register of Historic Places status in 1982 and later came under the stewardship of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College to preserve its significance as a hunting retreat.

Stone monuments and boulders from Hiawatha National Forest mark the property, commemorating Chase Osborn and his wife Stellanova. These markers show the connection between Michigan and Georgia that the former governor maintained through his winter home in the South.
