St. Simons Island Light, Maritime beacon in St. Simons Island, Georgia, US

The St. Simons Island Light features a white cylindrical tower rising 104 feet with a third-order Fresnel lens casting light across St. Simons Sound.

The original 1810 lighthouse was destroyed during the Civil War by Confederate forces, leading to the construction of the current structure in 1872.

The lighthouse keeper's Victorian residence now functions as a museum displaying maritime artifacts, historical photographs, and period furnishings from coastal Georgia.

Visitors can climb 129 steps to reach the observation platform, which provides views of St. Simons Sound and the surrounding barrier islands.

The lighthouse utilizes one of only 79 operational Fresnel lenses remaining in the United States, producing a white flash every 60 seconds.
